ETS submissions revealed Friday
Submissions to the government over the implementation of the emissions trading scheme will be published on Friday - although there are a few more from the automotive industry than initially planned.
Scott Gulliver of the Ministry for the Environment says many submissions have been made, and more are coming in despite the deadline passing on Friday. They will be posted on the Ministry's website this Friday.
However the automotive industry's merged submission, as reported in Autotalk, did not eventuate.
According to MIA chief executive Perry Kerr, a 'miscommunication' meant all the industry bodies ended up making their own submissions - although this turned out to be positive.
"It turned out very well as we all had the same basic message with your own specific points," says Kerr.
"We are united in the fundamental view that the point of liability needs to be changed to the point of Customs entry or the point of registration," he added. "And importers must be allowed to use either the default or actual emissions level - so the default becomes the cap."
