Huge sales start to 2012
Dealers are reporting a strong month almost across the board, with the new passenger market starting the year particularly strongly.
NZ Transport Agency figures show that in January 8681 new passenger and commercial vehicles were sold compared to 6476 in December 2011, an increase of 34%.
Year-on-year overall sales were up by 1158 units - 15%.
Passenger car sales did the business with January's sales of 7499 units up by a massive 2173 units - 41% - compared to December 2011. Sales were also up by 1289 units, 21%, compared to January 2011.
